Program Director and Founder

I could not be more excited to begin my new role as Program Director and Founder of Learning To Care Academy, LLC. I am honored to provide healthcare service to the community.
I have more than 25 years of experience working in various nursing specialties. I began my career as a nursing assistant at Providence Hospital, Columbia, SC. For most of my career, I worked at Providence Hospital for 20 years in medical/surgical, orthopedic, cardiac care, recovery room, palliative care, and clinical nurse educator. I also have 5 years of experience in palliative/hospice care and held numerous leadership positions.
My wide range of experiences in healthcare as a certified nursing assistant, bedside nurse, hospice nurse, clinical educator, director of nursing, and regional educator consultation has provided me with a wealth of knowledge to make a difference in people’s lives and our community. I am passionate about teaching students lifesaving skills while making a positive change in their future.
I earned an Associate of Science in Nursing from Midlands Technical College, Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of South Carolina - Aiken, and Master of Science in Nursing Administration from the University of Texas at Arlington.
I have been married to my husband, Roger, for 23 years. We have three daughters: Jayda, Kayla, and Tamiya, and our shelter adopted dog, Daisy. I am the youngest of six siblings and my parents were inspirational to me. My mother inspired me to become a registered nurse. My father, now deceased, was a strong advocate for the community.
As a member of the community, Learning To Care Academy's strategic mission and vision is to train students to become healthcare professionals. We are committed to providing a collaborative and supportive learning environment. You’ll find a quality learning environment with emphasis on your success. We take pride in meeting the needs of our students while obtaining their career goals.
I thank you for letting the Learning to Care Academy be your next step to success!

Kimberly Sussewell, RN, MSN
